Train Derails in Romulus: No Injuries Reported, No Public Threat Detected

A train derailment occurred in Romulus on November 2, resulting in around a dozen train cars going off the tracks. The incident unfolded at approximately 9:30 a.m. near Wick and Shook roads, situated just north of I-94.

Numerous response teams, including the Wayne County Emergency Management Team, swiftly arrived at the scene, leading to the closure of Wick Road as a safety precaution.

While at least one tanker car derailed during the incident, fortunately, no leaks have been reported. Authorities have disclosed that one of the tanker cars was empty, while the other contained clay slurry, a substance used in ceramics manufacturing. Moreover, city officials have confirmed that most derailed cars were unoccupied at the time of the mishap.

It is crucial to note that no injuries were reported in connection with this train derailment, and authorities have assured the public that there is no threat to their safety. The situation is under control, and emergency teams are diligently managing the incident’s aftermath.
